The Ebed Melech Institute (EMI) serves as a mission-focused think tank dedicated to shaping the future of the Church in Africa through rigorous research, strategic analysis, and biblically grounded innovation. We investigate the critical issues affecting Christian witness on the continent and generate insights that help the Church respond faithfully and effectively to emerging challenges.
As a think tank, EMI provides thought leadership, policy shaping analysis, and contextual solutions that strengthen discipleship, leadership development, mission strategy, and the Church’s engagement with society. We believe mission practitioners must continually re examine how we engage in God’s mission, ensuring that our approaches remain both biblically faithful and contextually relevant.
Through our research and intellectual leadership, EMI equips churches, mission agencies, and Christian institutions with resources that clarify the unfinished task of missions, illuminate the realities facing African believers, and inspire innovative responses rooted in Scripture.
To fulfil this mandate, EMI produces the following:
1. EMI Publications
EMI provides the African Church with well researched, biblically grounded publications that strengthen theological clarity and mission effectiveness. As a think tank, we mobilize scholars, practitioners, and analysts to produce:
• Articles for magazines and journals
• Research reports and policy briefs
• Books addressing emerging issues in theology, mission, and society
These resources help believers and leaders engage complex issues with depth, accuracy, and biblical conviction.
2. International Journal for African Missions (IJAM)
The International Journal for African Missions is EMI’s flagship scholarly platform, advancing missiological research with a focus on the unfinished task in Africa and beyond. IJAM provides space for:
• Frontier missiology
• Mission strategy and innovation
• Books addressing emerging issues in theology, mission, and society
• Theological reflection on mission practice
Mission professors, field missionaries, mobilizers, executives, and researchers contribute their latest thinking, making IJAM a leading voice in African mission scholarship.
3. Presentations, Workshops, and Conferences
As a think tank committed to shaping discourse and practice, EMI convenes workshops, conferences, and seminars on strategic topics approved by the Board of Directors. These gatherings bring together leaders, scholars, and practitioners to:
• Engage emerging trends
• Share research findings
• Develop collaborative solutions
• Strengthen mission and discipleship efforts across Africa
