This focus area is responsible for sustaining the Institute by providing pastoral care to its members. Of primary concern are the members of the Board, their loved ones (family members), and, as deemed appropriate, the Institute’s staff members. The ministry oversees and ensures provision of spiritual growth through education and training. The spiritual life of EMI shall be underpinned by the following three means of grace:
Fervent Prayers
EMI’s life portfolio shall remind the Board members that the rulers, the authorities, the powers of this dark world, and the spiritual forces of the evil in the heavenly realm oppose any of God’s work (Eph. 6:12)
In order to accomplish God’s purposes through EMI’s projects and the lives of its Board members, it is critical that the Board members engage in fervent prayers (James 5:16b)
EMI’s life portfolio shall organise regular and sporadic prayer sessions with individuals or Board members in addition to the ministry’s daily prayer sessions.
Wonderful Counsel
EMI acknowledges that only Jesus Christ, the wonderful counsellor can guide with infallible wisdom (Isaiah 9:6). Therefore EMI shall seek guidance from God’s word with the help of the Holy Spirit.
EMI’s Life Ministry shall provide Board members with God’s word of encouragement, befitting their challenges/blessings in executing their respective functions.
Board members shall collaborate in deciding on the systematic reading of literature aimed at empowering them spiritually and at strengthening EMI to realize its vision and mission.
Works of Mercy
EMI acknowledges that the eternal covenant between God and His children is an active covenant for achieving God’s purposes with the help of the Holy Spirit
EMI’s Life Ministry shall encourage Board members to be active servants of God through involvement in activities such as short mission trips and to also “show their faith by their deeds” (James 2:18)
