MOBILISATION

MOBILISATION

MOBILISATION

Mobilisation is the essential first step before any outreach activity or sending of gospel messengers. Before a missionary goes, the Church must be awakened. Mobilisation educates, informs, and inspires churches and individual believers until they move from awareness to active involvement.

EMI’s Mobilisation Programme exists to equip and inspire evangelical churches in Africa to become mission forces rather than mission fields—to cultivate a giving, sending, and disciple making mindset across the continent. This paradigm shift is advanced through several strategically selected ministry programmes, including the following:

Operation Abraham

Religious violent extremism continues to reshape the spiritual and social landscape of Africa, placing significant pressure on the church and its mission. Operation Abraham responds to these challenges by equipping believers, strengthening vulnerable communities, and promoting a biblically grounded understanding of persecution, resilience, and witness.

This program raises awareness of the realities facing Christians across the continent, fosters informed and compassionate engagement, and empowers the church to stand firm in the face of ideological and violent threats. By advancing biblical truth, advocacy, and mutual respect, Operation Abraham seeks to reduce the influence of extremism and reinforce the long term vitality of the global Christian community.

Target Audience
This program is designed for:
• Members of the Christian community seeking deeper understanding and preparedness
• Individuals vulnerable to the influence of religious extremism or anti church narratives
• Churches and believers directly affected by violent religious extremism (the persecuted church)
• Community leaders, educators, and policymakers shaping responses to religious conflict

Language and Culture (Ethnolinguistic Ministry)

Africa is home to more than 2,000 languages—one third of the world’s linguistic heritage—making it one of the most complex contexts for gospel communication. Language shapes identity, community, and dignity. EMI is committed to the study, development, and preservation of African languages for the sake of gospel clarity and discipleship.

Key areas of engagement include:
• Development of Christian literature in African languages
• Language documentation
• Bible translation and related translation support
• Literacy initiatives
• Dictionary and lexicon production
• Orthography development

These efforts strengthen the Church’s ability to disciple believers in the languages of their hearts.

Ebed Melech Project (EMP)

The Ebed Melech Project advances religious freedom, human dignity, and the protection of all religious communities. EMI advocates for the reform of discriminatory laws and policies and promotes public attitudes that uphold freedom of belief.

EMP is dedicated to rigorous analysis of religious liberty—an essential yet increasingly restricted human right in many parts of the world. The programme convenes international scholars and practitioners to examine:

• The meaning and value of religious freedom
• Its importance for gospel witness and democratic stability
• Its role in social and economic development
• Its relevance to international diplomacy
• Its impact on countering violent religious extremism

Through research, advocacy, and dialogue, EMP strengthens the foundations of a free and flourishing society.

Christian Family Ministry (CFM)

Missionaries, pastors, and Christian workers often carry heavy burdens—personal, family, social, and ministry related. Many leave the mission field not because of lack of calling, but because of unaddressed stress, trauma, and burnout.

Christian Family Ministry exists to care for the caregivers and strengthen those who serve on the frontlines of ministry.

Our approach includes:
1. Short term counselling and trauma debriefing for missionaries in crisis situations.
2. Workshops and seminars addressing spiritual, personal, and family issues, including diversity management, cross cultural adjustment, and transition.
3. Re entry workshops for missionaries and their children returning home, helping them reintegrate in healthy and sustainable ways.

Counselling and support services are available to individuals, couples, families, teams, and church or mission leaders, depending on the context.
